2024 WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT - OCTOBER 15, 2024 – APRIL 15, 2025
The Village of Ontonagon Winter Parking Restrictions are now in effect. Vehicles parked on Village streets between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. are in violation and shall be subject to citation.
During winter parking restrictions no vehicles shall be parked within six feet of the plowed right-of-way or shoulder of the road between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Vehicles parked on the street or right-of-way that hindering snow removal will be towed away at the expense of the owner. This ordinance will be strictly enforced from October 15th to April 15th.
WINTER SNOW PLOWING & REMOVAL
It is unlawful to plow snow across or deposit snow on any road way or plow snow in a manner that obstructs the safety vision of a driver of a motor vehicle.
It is the owner’s responsibility to clear snow and maintain access to their curbside mailbox. The Village will not be responsible for any damages to a mail box that is not clear of snow or clearly marked.
ADOPT A FIRE HYDRANT
It’s important to remember that by keeping the fire hydrant by your home clear of snow and accessible, you’re helping yourself. Seconds count when there is a fire. We have an All-Volunteer Fire Department. By keeping a fire hydrant clear of snow, you make the Volunteer’s job easier and the house you save may be yours.
